5th Grade Math Enrichment
We will offer weekly sessions to help students succeed in fifth-grade math and build the skills and confidence they need as they advance to Math 6. We will also support students seeking an additional challenge as they deepen their understanding, excel in mathematics, and work toward qualifying for Math 6 Accelerated.
As noted by Mathematics in San José Unified, “Students cannot skip or take concurrent math courses, as our courses are sequenced to be built on skills and content from previous courses.” This means students need to be placed in the appropriate math course beginning in sixth grade. For the most advanced students, the pathway is Math 6 Accelerated, followed by Algebra 1 in seventh grade and Geometry in eighth grade.
